Expanding our decorative metal design reach through product design is one of the most exciting things we do.
We love working with designers to create ranges that showcase their ideas, skills and imagination using Metalier finishes. The results are often stunning, and very successful.
Bespoke Furniture Finishes
We’ve worked on beautiful light fittings, mirror frames, wall panelling and furniture.
Our header image shows Galaxy, a sideboard from David Shaw Furniture, a prestigious New Zealand company that designs its own furniture range and imports exclusive international brands.
The name could not be more fitting. David Shaw called the piece Galaxy, while we independently named the Metalier finish Nebula. Clearly, we were thinking along the same lines.
Nebula, aged iron and patina
The picture on the left shows the very cute Otis tables from the same range.
The table on the left has Metalier’s lightly aged iron finish. The table on the right features Nebula. We love the slightly wonky shape of the tables because it adds so much charm.
Of course, Nebula is only one option. If it doesn’t appeal, there are plenty of other finishes to choose from – including the ones we haven’t thought of yet.
Why patinas make every piece unique
The close-up shows beautiful Nebula in more detail. We love the blue tones.
Patinas create the pattern, depth and variation in the finish. They are a key part of our creative process, and you can read more about them here.
Right now, we’re working on light fittings, mirror frames and new panelling designs.
One of the most exciting things for designers and their customers is that Metalier is totally bespoke. No two pieces will look exactly the same, even when the same applicator creates them on the same day.
Different days, heat, humidity and application choices all influence the final result. As a result, every piece has its own character. The lucky owner knows no one else has exactly the same finish.
